CUFOA’s goal is
the total repeal of the Firearms Act. The Executive Committee of CUFOA
recommends as a replacement for licensing (PAL & POL) and the previous
Firearms Acquisition Certificate (FAC) the creation of a Firearm Prohibition
Registry (FPR) of persons prohibited by court order from owning or possessing
firearms. In order to obtain/possess firearms an individual must not be
listed in that registry. Safeguards will be in place to ensure no person
is included in the FPR who should not be, along with effective measures
to ensure their swift removal if erroneously or unfairly placed
in the registry. No transfer of a firearm shall take place until the vendor
calls a 1-800 number for a Firearms Prohibition Registry Check (FPRC)
to insure the recipient of the firearm is not listed in the Firearms Prohibition
Registry. No fees/licenses will be attached to this public safety
service.
