Press Release for December 2002
Canadian Unregistered Firearms Owners Association
December 2002
The Right Honourable Jean Chrétien
Prime Minister of Canada
Dear Mr Prime Minister,
Re: Protection of our Liberty
The Firearms Act which goes into full force on 01 January 2003 ignores
our Culture, destroys our Heritage, and violates the Canadian Charter
of Rights and Freedoms.
Honest, responsible Canadian citizens are being forced to make a terrible
decision. We must either surrender our Rights and submit to an unjust
law, or break the law in defending our Rights.
We will not be intimidated. We will not surrender our Liberty.
We will be in Ottawa on Wednesday 01January2003 to demonstrate our resolve
to protect our Liberty.
On the steps of Parliament we will burn our firearms licenses and destroy
our firearms registration certificates.
We fully realize that we face arrest for these “illegal” actions.
We welcome the opportunity to meet you in court where you will face the
impossible task of defending this unjust law.
The Rights we defend are protected by the Magna Carta, the English Bill
of Rights of 1688, English Common Law, the British North America Act,
the Canadian Bill of Rights, and the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
Save your legacy, Mr Prime Minister. Give us good, sensible, logical laws
which promote safety.
Repeal the Firearms Act.
Sincerely,
Jim Turnbull, President
Canadian Unregistered Firearms Owners Association
