The Honourable Robert Douglas Nicholson
Dear Mr. Nicholson,
Re: Constitutional Challenge to Criminal Code Section 117.03
As the enclosed court documents state, on Thursday, 16 August 2007, I will appear in Court of Queen’s Bench in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, in an attempt to have the court declare Criminal Code Section 117.03 and the corresponding section of the Firearms Act ultra vires the authority of Parliament.
Since you had no part in passing this unjust law, perhaps you will be more willing than some of your Liberal predecessors in the Ministry of Justice to assist us in fighting this case.
Each time I discuss our appeal with the federal Crown Counsel, he replies that he is “simply taking orders from Ottawa.” Perhaps you would instruct your Ministry to respect the Right of Canadians to acquire, own, and posses firearms without having to have a federal firearms licence.
I own over fifty unregistered firearms, and I have never had a firearms license. Neither the Saskatoon City Police nor my neighbors consider me a threat to their health or safety. In fact, the former Solicitor General of Canada, The Honourable Wayne Easter, personally said to me and my associates when we were sitting in his riding office in Hunter River, P.E.I. in July 2003, that as unlicensed firearms owners we were not a threat to Canadian society.
Therefore, Mr. Minster, I ask that you intervene on our behalf in our Court case and help us remove this blot from Parliament's record.
