Dear Conservative Member of Parliament,
Re: Protection of our Rights and Freedoms
On behalf of the members of the Canadian Unregistered Firearms Owners Association I would like to congratulate you and all the members of the Conservative Party of Canada on an extremely well run campaign. We considered it an honour and a pleasure to work with such dedicated candidates to restore honesty and integrity to our federal government.
The successes of you and your party are an inspiration to those of us who have been fighting to protect our Rights and Freedoms from violation by the unjust federal firearms laws.
We look forward with anticipation to the timely repeal of the Firearms Act. For far too long responsible firearms owning citizens have been confronted with humiliations and a loss of Rights usually reserved for the most vile of convicted criminals.
We applaud the Conservative Party of Canada as it moves forward with the election pledges to enhance public safety. As an Association we are deeply concerned with preserving the Right of citizens to acquire, own, and possess firearms while preventing irresponsible persons from obtaining firearms. To further this objective we have proposed the Firearms Prohibition Registry (please see attached information). We would like to encourage your positive consideration of this idea which flows directly from Mr. Garry Breitkreuz’ long-standing admonition: “Register Criminals, NOT Duck Hunters.”
The speedy repeal of the Firearms Act and the implementation to the Firearms Prohibition Registry would go a long way to restoring our faith in the federal government’s commitment to improving public safety while respecting the Rights of Canadian citizens.
We assure you of our continued encouragement and support as you begin to implement the programs of reforms which we so desperately need. More than simply offering our best wishes for your continued success, we stand ready to assist you in any manner possible as we move forward towards a responsible, effective government that respects the Rights and Freedoms of all Canadians.
