Ron Cannan, MP
House of Commons
Ottawa, Ontario K1A 0A6
Dear Mr. Cannan,
As a responsible unlicensed firearms owner I am deeply disturbed and
very concerned about a letter dated 07 September 2011 from the Minister
of Justice Rob Nicholson that states:
The Government of Canada supports the current licensing scheme …
.
A person of my proven integrity and loyalty cannot understand how the
CPC came to destroy the confidence of several million real Canadians.
Indeed, I find Mr. Nicholson’s statement both inconceivable and
unconscionable.
This drastic change in the Conservatives’ position on licensing
is a total betrayal of everything that I have strived to accomplish by
working for, donating to, and promoting the Conservatives’ cause
in the past.
When, and under what circumstances, did the Conservatives sell-out responsible
firearm-owning Canadian citizens?
When, and under what circumstances, did the Conservatives adopt the licencing
mandate of the Liberals’ 1995 Firearms Act?
I need to receive your personal assurance that you understand the vital
difference between the registering of firearms and the licencing of firearms
owners.
I need to receive your personal assurance that you personally do not
accept “the current licensing scheme” foisted upon us by Jean
Chrétien and Allan Rock.
Before I can again support the Conservatives I must have your commitment
to decriminalizing the mere ownership of firearms.
Please encourage your fellow Conservatives to reclaim their former virtues
and become trustworthy again.
