Dear Mr. Rae,

I enjoyed meeting you and our former Minister of Agriculture Ralph Goodale briefly this afternoon at the Tim Hortons in Lawson Heights in Saskatoon. I understand this unique opportunity arose as part of your cross-country tour to “rebuild” the Liberal Party’s image.

If you truly would like to improve the Liberal brand, you could make an excellent start by announcing a policy to repeal the Liberals’ 1995 Firearms Act.

Please allow me to be crystal clear on this point:
I do NOT mean simply ‘ending the long-gun registry’ as Mr. Harper so duplicitously proclaims that he will do this fall. A Liberal policy of scrapping the long gun registry will not redeem the Liberals from all the damage that Mr. Chrétien and former Minister of Justice Allan Rock did over the past ten years with their ill-advised, ill-conceived, unjust licencing scheme that they rammed down our throats.

If you are really serious about winning more than Mr. Goodale’s Saskatchewan seat in Regina you need a policy that calls for repealing ALL of the Firearms Act and its attendant Criminal Code provisions that make the mere possession of a firearm in one’s own home a criminal offence.

Only by making a clean break from that fraudulent legislation that your Liberal predecessors deceitfully passed will help you rebuild the Liberals in western Canada.

I trust that an honest look at this immoral legislation will convince you to do what is just – and help your Party.
