Firearms Owners Association
Irving R. Gerstein, C.M., O.Ont,
Dear Mr. Gerstein,
Regarding your letter dated 05 July 2012 thanking me for all I “have done in the past”, you ask, “Can we count on you to rejoin our team of financial supporters?” I also note that you say you have “not heard from me this year.” I thereby understand that you obviously have not bothered to read my letter to you dated 18 January 2012.1
In that letter to you I expressed my dismay about Bill C-19, An Act to amend the Criminal Code and the Firearms Act. This Bill was not a “good first step.” The true evil of the Liberal’s 1995 Bill C-68, the Firearms Act, and the consequent amendments to the Criminal Code is the licencing scheme of honest citizens. Licencing destroys our proud Canadian heritage and culture of firearms ownership. The Liberals rammed these changes down our throats and made criminals of responsible citizens for the mere possession of a firearm.
Mr. Harper’s endorsement of the Liberal’s mandate to licence honest citizens is totally inexplicable and without any justification. With this malicious step Mr. Harper betrayed loyal Conservative supporters – supporters who have been working for the Conservatives for over seventeen years.
I clearly stated, “Until such time as Mr. Harper and the Conservatives correct this injustice, they deserve no applause - nor funding.”
You may write me solicitous letters as much as you like, but do not expect any donations from me until you demand Mr. Harper keep his promise to responsible firearms owners.2
I will not send the Conservative Party another dime until Mr. Harper implements the Conservatives’ policy to respect the Right of “Canadians to own and use firearms responsibly.”2
