Press Release
Canadian Unregistered Firearms Owners Association
"Come and Get Them !"
"Come and Get Them !" is a battle cry for a revolution. But
before we utter this call to arms, we must first address a paradox: If conditions
degenerate that far, we will not have any firearms to say, "Come
and Get".
That is because there remain two very important steps that we must first
take before engaging in a revolution.
First we must exhaust all of our right of appeal to the courts.
Our Rights are protected by the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
We must initiate proper legal challenges based upon violations of the Charter.
Even though most of us have little, or no, faith in the "justice"
system it does not negate the fact that we must use this method in an attempt
to redress our grievances.
Secondly, if the courts fail to uphold our Rights, our next step is to use
civil disobedience.
Civil disobedience is a direct appeal to our fellow citizens that the Firearms
Act is unjust, that it infringes on our basic right of self defense and
the right to bear arms.
But it is in using civil disobedience that we incur the paradox.
When one engages in civil disobedience, a person knowingly, purposefully
breaks the law to demonstrates their resolve to have the law changed. But
as the modern day practitioners of civil disobedience (Gandhi, Martin
Luther King, Jr) go to pains to point out, civil disobedience is "civil".
And being civil means that the person who uses this method respects the
"Rule of Law". Respecting the rule of law means being willing to
go to prison to demonstrate that respect.
Hence the paradox. Because we love Canada and respect our institutions of
government - until such time as they prove themselves to be absolutely,
utterly untrustworthy - we must be willing to submit to arrest and imprisonment.
And being arrested for violations of the Firearms Act is going to entail
the loss of our firearms.
So a true patriot who has been arrested, has had their firearms seized as
evidence, and has been imprisoned for two years, will not have any firearms
when they hear the cry, "Come and Get Them !"
